Ida S.E. (Hartman) Wertman

Ida S. E. Wertman, 93, of New Tripoli, Pa.went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital , Cedar Crest, Allentown, Pa.She was the wife of the late Lester A. Wertman who was killed on December 25, 1944, while serving his country during WWII. They were married on January 1, 1942. She was born in Lynnville, a daughter of the late William and Ida (Ebert) Hartman. She attended the Bausch School and was raised on a farm where she plowed the fields with  horses. Later in life she helped her father in his butcher shop in New Tripoli.  Still later she helped her brother and then her nephew in their butcher shop.  She was a member of Ebenezer U.C.C. Church, New Tripoli, Pa. She was also a former church choir member. She was a homemaker for most of her life. She is survived by a daughter, Darlene A. Wertman, at home, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Grace Berk, Roma Fey; a brother, Paul Hartman; a step-brother, William Wertman and her long time companions Carl German and most recently Myles A. Miller, Sr.  Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, 8505 Kings Highway, New Tripoli, Pa. 18066, with a calling hour beginning at 10:00 AM.  Pastor Karen A. Yonney will officiate. Interment will take place in Ebenezer Union Cemetery, New Tripoli.  In lieu of flowers contributions in her name may be made to Ebenezer U.C.C. Church, 7293 Decatur Street, New Tripoli, Pa. 18066.
