Grace Eleanor Smith, devoted mother, sister, aunt, Grandma, Nana, 90 years of age of Shackamaxon Street, Leesport, Pennsylvania, passed away on March 26, 2017 with her loving family by her side. She passed away at the home of her daughter, Susan E. Adams wife of Brooke of Hamburg, with whom she last resided. She was the wife of Ralph Curtis Smith, who died in 1980. Born in Lynnport, Lehigh County, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Florence (Oswald) Smith. Grace was a 1944 graduate of Slatington High School and a 1946 graduate of Allentown Business College. After graduation , she was employed as a secretary for 4 years at the former Hamburg Hosiery Sales for Isaac Greth. Later, she was employed for 20 years at the former Diener’s Knittting Mills, Leesport, as a sewing machine operator until rertiring in 1991. Grace was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ of Sumneytown, PA. She was also a member of the Leesport Senior Citizens and the Leesport Fire Company. Her passions in life included sewing, dancing, reading, and lunching at Hoss’s. She is survived by her Daughter Susan E. Adams wife of Brooke of Hamburg; a Son Dennis C. Smith and his wife Helen of West Lawn; a Sister Evelyn A. Lichtenwalner wife of Wilbur of Allentown; a Brother Merritt A. Smith of Allentown; Four Grandsons, William J. Smith, Kenneth B. Adams, Carson B. Adams and R.Curtis B. Adams; Four Great-grandchildren, Annabelle Adams, Brooke Adams, Jesse Smith and Camilla Adams. Her Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway, New Tripoli, Pa.18066, with a calling hour beginning at 10:00 AM. Pastor Deborah P. Schwartz will officiate. Interment will be in Jerusalem (Red) Church Cemetery, Kempton, PA immediately following the service. Memorials in her honor may be sent to Austin Achieve Public Schools, Attention: Austin Achieve Greenawalt Road to College Center, 5908 Manor Road, Austin, TX 78723, which is a tuition-free public charter school and memorials will be used to assist in securing materials for use by the students of the Austin Achieve Greenawalt Road to College Center Library.
