Edna M. ( Billig) Rehrig, 86, of Lynnport, New Tripoli, Pa., passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2017 in the Inpatient Hospice Unit of the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, Pa. She was preceeded in death by her husband Martin A. Rehrig, Jr. in 1987. She was born in Kunkeltown, a daughter of the late Gorman R. and Regina M. (Eschbach) Billig, Sr. She was last employed as a custodian at the Northwestern Elementary School, New Tripoli, from 1980 till retiring in 1995. Prior to that she was employed at the former Wenton Shoe Co., Kutztown from 1957 to 1980. She was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Jerusalem (Red) Church, Kempton and also the Lynnport Fire Co. where she was a former vice president of the auxiliary. She was very proud of being an 8th grade class graduate of Slatington High School. Edna had many hobbies including gardening, quilting,sewing, canning, doing Seek a Word Books,antique cars, shoes, collecting salt and pepper shakers and spending time with her beloved family. Survivors includes a daughter Janet M. wife of Jim Dal Santo, Menominee, Mich.; three sisters, Eleanor M. (Stanley)Wessner, Mrs. Anna M. Leslie both of Kutztown and Mrs. Annabelle R. Hosler of New Tripoli; three brothers, Paul G. Billig, New Tripoli, Allen J.(Anna) Billig, Hamburg and Carl A. Billig, Kutztown, three granddaughters, Denise, Bonnie and Lucinda; three great-grandchildren, Randy, Dean and Samantha and a great-great granddaughter Sadie. She is also survived by her long time companion Russell H. Wambold, Jr. She was predeceased by a brother Gorman R. Billig, Jr. Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway, New Tripoli, Pa. 18066. Calling hours will be on Monday, from 6 to 7:30 PM and Tuesday from 10 to 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home. Robert J. Billig, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Jerusalem (Red) Church Cemetery, Kempton.
