William Plasha, 84, of Kempton, PA, passed away at home on August 23, 2025. He was the widower of the late Janet M. Plasha, who passed away in 2003. He spent the last 16 years with his beloved significant other, Mary Buckwalter. Born in Pottsville, PA, he was the son of the late Michael and Helen (Luzusky) Plasha.
Bill was a 1959 graduate of Clifton Heights High School. He worked as a union steamfitter for MBR Mechanical in Blandon, PA, for 23 years, until retirement. Bill was involved in his community, giving his time and energy to several organizations that were close to his heart. He was a member of New Bethel Church in Kempton. He was a member of the Kempton Rod and Gun Club and a lifetime member of Slatington Skeet Club, where he enjoyed spending time with friends in nature, whether hunting, fishing, or simply soaking in the beauty of the outdoors. Bill dedicated much of his life to his profession as a member of Steamfitters Local #420. He was also a member of Huguenot Lodge #377-F&AM in Kutztown, PA, and Reading Consistory and Rajah Shrine, both in Reading, PA.
In addition to his significant other, Mary, he is survived by his sons, William M. (Amy) Plasha of Raleigh, NC, and Bruce A. Plasha of Andreas, PA; daughter, Bernadette M. (Glen) Leibensperger of Kempton; six grandchildren, Lorelei and Samantha Plasha, Kara (Jesse) Kegarise, Evan Leibensperger and his companion, Ashley Kuhns, and April and Brandon Plasha; three great-grandchildren; brother, Dennis (Donna) Plasha of Medford Lakes, NJ. He is predeceased by siblings Michael and John Plasha, and Sandra O’Meara; loving stepdaughter, Debbie S. Buckwalter.
Bill’s funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 12:00 PM in the Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway, New Tripoli, PA. Masonic rites will precede the funeral at 11:45 AM, with visitation from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM. Interment immediately following funeral service in New Bethel Cemetery, Kempton, PA. Mr. David Fallinger will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bill’s honor to the Kempton Lions Club and/or Shriners Children’s Hospital, sent to the funeral home address above.
