Wayne J. Greenawalt , 92, of New Tripoli, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, in Allentown. He was the husband of Shirley M.( Phillips)
Greenawalt having celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in June 2013. He was born in Albany Township,a son of the late Howard S. and Maude E. ( Dietrich) Greenawalt. He was the owner of the former Wayne J. Greenawalt General Contracting Co. of New Tripoli for approximately 50 years retiring in 1999. Wayne honorably served his country during World War II, as a Staff Sgt.in the Army Air Corps. He was a member and former councilman and cemetery board member of Jacobs Church, New Tripoli, Pa. He was also a member of the Lynnport Fire Co.,the New Tripoli Fire Co.,the Kempton Rod and Gun Club, as well as a life member of the Kempton Fire Co. and a former member of the Kempton Lions Club. He was also a former board member of the Kempton Community Center. Survivors besides his wife includes four sons, Kevin W. ( Patricia); Robert J.( Kay); Michael R. and Scott H. Greenawalt all of New Tripoli and two granddaughters, Katelyn and Mckenzie. He was predeceased by two sister, Anna Kunkel and Roma Feinour. His Funeral Service will be held on Sat. May 31, 2014 at 10:30 AM in Jacobs Church 8373 Kings Highway, New Tripoli, Pa. 18066, with a calling hour beginning at 9:30 AM. Rev. Scott L. Shay will officiate. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow in the adjoining cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory are requested to Jacobs Church at the above address and/or the Lynnport Fire Co., PO Box 14, New Tripoli, Pa. 18066.
