Wayne W. Dietrich

Wayne W. Dietrich, 87, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at his residence in Greenwich Township, Kutztown, Pa., surrounded by his loving family.  He was the husband of Jean F.( Miller) Dietrich, having celebrated their 60^th wedding aniversary in August of 2014.  He was born in Greenwich Township, a son of the late Edward C. and Hattie ( Wessner) Dietrich. Wayne was a self employed farmer in Greenwich Township until retiring in 1967.  He later worked as a mechanic for Chemical Leaman Tank Lines of Evansville, Pa., retiring there in 1990. He was a 1945 graduate of Kutztown Area High School.  He was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Kutztown, and a former member and treasurer of the former Dunkels Church, Greenwich Twsp., Pa. He was also a member of the Kutztown Fire Co.  Wayne served his country faithfully and honorably with the U.S. Army during World War II.  He also enjoyed small game hunting, gardening and working on his tractors. Survivors in addition to his wife includes two sons, Stephen W. Dietrich of Bernville, Pa. and Kerry L. Dietrich and his companion Gary G. Gilbert of East Greenville, Pa.; a sister Ethel F. George of Lenhartsville; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Edward W. Dietrich, Arlan H. Dietrich, James S. Dietrich and Dorothy H. Adam. His funeral service will be held on Monday, December 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 1343 Long Lane, Kutztown, Pa. 19530, with calling hours from 9:00 to 11:00 AM.  Rev. James R. Hammond will officiate.  Interment with military honors will follow in the adjoining cemetery.  Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Mt. Zion Luth. Church Memorial Fund, sent to the above church address.
