Shirley G. (Hartung) Snyder

Shirley G. (Hartung) Snyder, 88, of New Tripoli, PA passed away at home on June 3, 2026. She was the wife of Donald J. Snyder, Sr., for over 55 years. Born in Andreas, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Alexander Edgar Hartung and Pearl M. (Smith) Hartung.

Shirley worked as a waitress for the Kutztown Fire Company and was a waitress and cook for the former Skyview Restaurant in Krumsville, PA. She also worked as a sewing machine operator for the former Kempton-Lynn Sportswear. Shirley was a member of Jacob’s Church in New Tripoli.

In addition to her loving husband, Donald, she is survived by her daughter, Charlene E. Silva of New Tripoli; sons, Charles E. Lenhart, III and wife, Cindy, of Kutztown, Donald J. Snyder, Jr. at home, and Christopher Snyder; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, David A. Lenhart, her daughter, Deborah A. Scott, and her siblings, William Hartung, Vernon Hartung, and Mary Jane “Bebs” Arner.

Shirley’s funeral service will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026 at 11 AM in Nester Funeral Home, Inc., 8405 Kings Highway New Tripoli. The calling hour will begin at 10 AM. Interment following funeral service in Jacob’s Union Cemetery, New Tripoli. Rev. Stanley C. Newton will officiate.
