Shirley M. (Phillips) Greenawalt, 94, of New Tripoli, PA, passed away on February 9, 2025 at the Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest in Allentown, PA. She was the widow of Wayne J. Greenawalt. Born in Kutztown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Elsie (Geiger) and Lawrence Sunday, Sr. Shirley was a 1948 graduate of Hamburg High School.
She was a member of Jacob’s Church in New Tripoli. Shirley was the former president of the Kempton Lioness Club. She was also a member of the Kempton Community Center, Lynnport Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, and the Kempton Rod and Gun Club. She was a former cub scout den mother for Pack 89 in New Tripoli; and served as judge of elections for the Jacksonville District.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Kevin W. (Patricia) Greenawalt, Robert J. (Kay) Greenawalt, Michael R. Greenawalt, all of New Tripoli, and Scott H. (Alaina) Greenawalt of Lenhartsville, PA; grandchildren, Katelyn and McKenzie Greenawalt; sister-in-law, Charlotte Sunday of Lenhartsville. Shirley was predeceased by her brother, Lawrence Sunday, Jr.
Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 11 AM in Jacob’s Church, 8373 Kings Highway New Tripoli, with a calling hour to begin at 10 AM. Interment in adjoining cemetery. Rev. Stanley Newton will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Lynnport Fire Co. and/or Kempton Rod and Gun Club, sent c/o Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway New Tripoli, PA.
