Ruth Reber Obituary

Ruth A (Stump) Reber, 87, of Auburn, PA gained her angel wings on May 24th, 2022 in the Reading Tower Health Hospital. Ruth's life would seem too short to many, but those of us who were humbled to be touched by Ruth understand that her existence and the imprint she left on our hearts exceed the quantity of time that Ruth stayed here.

Ruth was born in Albany Township, PA in 1935 to her mother and father, Mary and Homer Stump. She spent her childhood running through the beautiful flower gardens, picking up one of her many treasured skills in gardening, and looking out for her younger sister, Joan Calvert. Ruth completed her high school education in 1952 when she graduated from Slatington High School. She continued her passion in caring for others after her graduation, by continuing her studies at the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated in 1955. She, being the driven woman she was known to many as being, continued her career in nursing by working at the Hamburg Center for 35 years. She tirelessly served her patients, where she was known for her hard work, professionalism, admiration from her patients, and her magnetic personality.

Ruth was talented, understanding, and kind-hearted to every person, plant, and animal she ever met. She opened her heart to anyone she came in contact with. When Ruth wasn't spending her time at the Leesport Farmer's Market selling her canned goods, jellies, and soups, she was saving every cat that managed to find their way to her home. Those closest to her, would question whether or not her magnetic personality carried over into the feline world. Many of those who recall beloved memories of Ruth remember her enjoying her days singing along to her favorite artists, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton, and also enjoying watching Betty White. Not a day would pass where Ruth wasn't thinking, cooking, and gardening for others, or giving her time to support those closest to her. Arguably her most spoken about personality trait was being a selfless woman.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Colinda (Alan) Hileman of Hamburg, Lucinda Palubinski of Schuylkill Haven; and son Daniel (Jean) Martel of Shoemakersville. As well as her eight grandchildren: Ashley Hileman, Allison Hileman, Danielle Martel, Dana Martel, Amber Simpson, Steven Palubinski, Christopher Palubinski, and Tayler Palubinski; eight great grand-children as well as her beloved dog, Renee.
