Russell R. Dotterer, 89, of New Tripoli, PA passed away on October 16, 2025 at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest in Allentown, PA. He was the husband of Barbara (Kistler) Dotterer, with whom he celebrated 64 years of marriage in July. Born in Kempton, PA, he was the son of the late Elwood A. and Edna M. (Klingaman) Dotterer.
Russell was a 1953 graduate of Slatington High School. He went on to serve his country in the US Army from 1958-1960. He worked with his father at the former Dotterer’s Garage in Kempton and later worked as a damage appraiser and adjuster for Erie Insurance Company, until retirement. Russell was a member of the Lutheran congregation of the Jerusalem (Red) Church in Kempton. He served as a cemetery official for the church cemetery. Russell was a lifetime member and former treasurer of the Lynnport Fire Co. Russell was an avid hunter, greatly enjoyed watching all sports, and always looked forward to spending time in his woodshop.
In addition to his loving wife, Barbara, he is survived by his sons, Gary (Ann) Dotterer of Kutztown, PA and Neal (Tami) Dotterer of Coplay, PA; granddaughters, Alicia Beam of Neffs, PA and Ashley (Derek) Goldsborough of Shillington, PA; two great-granddaughters, Kennedy Beam and Olivia Goldsborough. He was predeceased by his sister, Shirley Behm.
Russell’s Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 12 PM, with a visitation period from 11 AM-12 PM in the Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway New Tripoli, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Russell’s name may be made to New Jerusalem Cemetery Assoc. and sent c/o the funeral address.
