Richard W. Greenawald, 85, of Orefield, PA, passed away at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest in Allentown, PA on January 8, 2025. He was the husband of Sandra C. (Snyder) Greenawald for over 62 years. Born in Weisenberg, PA, he was the son of the late William J. and Hilda E. (Bittner) Greenawald.
Richard attended Northwestern Lehigh High School in New Tripoli, PA. He drove truck for 45 years, working for Alpo, the former Jameson Plastics and Walgreens until retiring in 2001. Richard was a member of Jordan UCC Church in Allentown.
In addition to his loving wife, Sandra, he is survived by his daughter, Cynthia D. (David) Drumheller; grandchildren, Chrystal E. (Ryan) Mohr of New Tripoli, Joseph A. Madar, II, and his wife Tara of New Tripoli; great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Austin, and Avery Mohr, Asher and Autumn Madar; sister, Sandra A. (Roy) Follweiler of Kempton. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Thomas Day.
Richard’s memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway New Tripoli, PA 18066. Interment in Ebenezer Union Cemetery, New Tripoli. Rev. Dr. David C. Smith will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Richard’s name may be made to Jordan UCC Church, sent c/o the funeral home.
