Richard D. Follweiler, Sr., 80, of Kempton, PA, passed away at home on September 18, 2025. He was the husband of Lucille E. (Biege), having celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in July 2025. Born in Kempton, he was the son of the late Luther J. and Erma (Ohl) Follweiler.
Richard was a Vietnam Veteran, having served his country in the US Army from 1965-1967. He was a 1964 graduate of Northwestern High School in New Tripoli. Richard worked at Alpo in Allentown for 42 years until retirement. He was a member of Jacob’s Church in New Tripoli; and a life member of Lynnport Fire Co. Richard was a man of simple pleasures, a steadfast lover of the outdoors, and someone whose hands were always busy, whether in the woods or working on his latest project at home. Richard had a unique hobby that brought him joy and a sense of fulfillment: the restoration and repair of concrete animal lawn ornaments. He had an eye for detail and a talent for breathing new life into weathered and cracked statues. He also enjoyed visiting the local casino and traveling cross-country with his wife.
In addition to his loving wife, Lucille, he is survived by his sons, Richard D. Follweiler, Jr. of Coplay, PA, and Steven A. (Tina) Follweiler of Centennial, CO.; granddaughter, Riley Follweiler; brother, Roy (Sandra) Follweiler of Kempton; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Ralph Follweiler.
Richard’s funeral service will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 11 AM in the Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway, New Tripoli, PA. The calling hour will begin at 10 AM.
