Mildred Anna (Kunkle) Gilbert

Mildred Anna Gilbert, 105, of New Tripoli, Pa. died on Sunday morning, October 5, 2014 in the Cornerstone Living Center, at New Tripoli. She was predeceased by her husband Paul S. Gilbert in 1984. She was born in Mill Creek, North Whitehall Twsp., a daughter of the late Charles E. and Mary M. (Brobst) Kunkle. Mildred and her husband Paul were the owner operators of the former New Tripoli Print Shop, located at their residence from 1935 to retiring in 1990. She was the oldest member of the Union Evangelical Lutheran Church in Schnecksville, Pa. Mildred was also a former founding member and past president of the Ontelaunee Lioness Club, New Tripoli, Pa. It is believed to be the first ladies lions club in Pa. in 1977. Survivors includes a daughter Louise K. Kauffman of Lancaster; a son Joseph K. Gilbert and his wife Valorie, of Woodlawn, VA and 5 Grandchildren Beth and Paul Gilbert, Jonathan and Mark Kauffman and Katy ( Kauffman) Morgan and 4 great-grandchildren. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014 at 1:30 PM in the Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway, New Tripoli, Pa. 18066, with a calling hour beginning at 12:30 PM. Rev. David L. Hess will officiate, with interment following in the Neffs Union Cemetery, Schnecksville, Pa. Contributions, in her memory, may be made to Union Evangelical Luth. Church Memorial Fund , 5500 Rt. 873, Schnecksville, Pa . 18078 , and/or to the Humane Society, 640 Dixon Street, Allentown, Pa. 18103.
