Marilyn B. (Leiby) Bond, 89, of Allentown, PA, formerly of Kempton, PA passed away at the Phoebe Health Care Center in Allentown on June 20, 2022. She was the widow of Stanley C. Bond who passed away in 2007. Born in Kunkletown, PA, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Marietta (Christine) Leiby. She was a 1950 graduate of Kutztown High School. Marilyn was a member of New Bethel Church in Kempton. She was known for her delicious cooking, specifically her homemade rivel soup, beef pot pie, and the best apple dumplings. Earlier in life, Marilyn and her family lived in Panama while her dad helped build the Panama Canal. She later moved to Kempton and started her own family. She adored her girls and loved spending time with them and teaching them the game of solitaire. Marilyn enjoyed playing the lottery, frequenting bingo halls, and putting together numerous jigsaw puzzles. She will always be remembered as a kind-hearted mother and friend. Survivors include her four daughters, Karen L. (Jeffry) Deutsch of Coplay, PA, Sandra J. Wessner of Kempton, PA, Marjorie A. (Irwin P.) Hamm of New Tripoli, PA, and Kay E. (Stephen) Brendlinger of Kempton, PA; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters, Joanne Kanouse of CT, and Jane Kemmerer of FL. She was predeceased by siblings Edwin and George Leiby. Marilyn’s funeral service will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 11AM in New Bethel Church, 135 New Bethel Church Road Kempton, PA 19529, with a calling hour to begin at 10AM. Rev. Robert Ziehmer will officiate. Interment in adjoining cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to New Bethel Church sent directly to church address above.
