Marie E. (Snyder) Heim, 88, of New Tripoli, formerly of Tamaqua, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2015 in her residence. She was the widow of C.A.”Fred” Snyder and Samuel I. Heim. She was born in Andreas, a son of the late Guy H. and Margaret U. (Kemmerer) Snyder. Marie was the chief telephone operator and office manager for the former Mahoning Rural Telephone Co. of Mantzville . Also during this time she was the office manager of her husbands business , the C.A.Snyder Insurance Agency of R#3 Tamaqua, until retiring in 1971. She also served as an organist at various churches including St. Peters Union Church, Mantzville; St. John’s Union Church , New Mahoning and Zion Lutheran Church of Packerton, Pa. from the 1950’s to 2004. She was a member of Ben Salem U.C.C. Church, Lehighton. Marie was a member and former Worthy Matron of Gnaden Huetten Chapter # 203, Order of Eastern Star, Lehighton, and a past Worthy Chaplain of the Grand Chapter of Pa. Survivors includes a step-son, Roger Heim and his wife Karen of Macungie; step daughter Melanie Madsen of Palmyra, NJ; two sisters, Phyllis S. wife of Wilbur Albright, Macungie and Grace M. wife of Dale F. Snyder, Walnutport; three brothers, Gordon T. Snyder and his wife Emma of Lehighton, Willard A. Snyder and his wife Lucille of New Tripoli and Luther D. Snyder and his wife Lynn of Jim Thorpe also 9 step-grandchildren and 45 nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Hilbert G. Snyder and an infant brother and two step-daughters Edith Weaver and Myrtle Fritz. Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Ben Salem U.C.C. Church, 1965 Church Hill Road, Lehighton, Pa. 18235, with calling hours beginning at 9:30 AM. Rev. Michael McGowan, will officiate. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Gnaden Huetten Chapter #203 O.E.S. service 10:45 AM. In Lieu of flowers contributions in her memory, are requested to the Ben Salem U.C.C. Church sent to the above church address.
