Madeline M. (Merkel) Seidel

Madeline M. Seidel, 95, of New Tripoli, PA. passed away at Kutztown Manor, Kutztown, PA. on October 5, 2018. She was the wife of the late John C. Seidel, who died in 1998. She was born in Alburtis, PA., a daughter to the late Myron and Pearl (Bogert) Merkel.  Madeline was a dog breeder in New Tripoli for many years, mainly breeding Chihuahua dogs, until retiring in 2005.She was a member of Jacob’s Church in New Tripoli, and was a lifetime member of the Lynnport Fire Co.  She also volunteered for the former Northwestern Ambulance Corp. for many years. Survivors include her daughter, Joan A. wife of Richard A. Oswald of New Tripoli, PA.; three brothers, Abner Merkel of Bethlehem, PA., Hans Merkel of Slatington, PA., and Arthur Merkel of Slatington, PA.; one sister, Mary Ann Merkel of Allentown, PA.; two grandchildren, Daniel Rabert and Beverly wife of Mitch Hosler; two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Ashley Rabert; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, Madeline was preceded in death by three siblings, Henry and Jake Merkel, and Miriam Follweiler. Madeline’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM in Jacob’s Church, 8372 Kings Highway New Tripoli, PA 18066, with a calling period to begin at 10:00 AM. Rev. Scott L. Shay will officiate.  In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to Jacob’s Church Memorial Fund, sent to the address listed above.
