M. Rachael Hartman, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 21, 2008 at Forest Manor, Hope, N.J. Born: In New Tripoli, Pa., she was a daughter of Walter H., Sr. and Lillian Kuntz Sittler.
Rachael worked side-by-side with her husband, Charles, as a potato farmer/distributor. In 1958 she became a Licensed Practical Nurse and upon the death of her Dad, became the owner/proprietor of Sittler's General Country Store of New Tripoli, Pa. Rachael's passions were her family and a rustic cabin in Promised Land Lake, Pa. She was a Brownie leader, painted, created ceramics, crocheted and played the piano.
Survivors: Rachael is survived by her beloved family, a daughter, Karyl Ann Darker; grandson Todd C. Darker and wife, Patti of Glenwood, N.J.; granddaughter Jayne A. Valentine, Hackettstown; grandson Peter J. Darker, Boonton, N.J.; brother Walter H. Sittler, Jr. and wife, Gabrielle, Allentown; three grandchildren, Erik Darker, Bryan Darker and Rachyl Valentine. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Charles, a brother, Filbert Sittler and a sister Imogene Schaeffer.
