Karl E. Hemerly, 82, of Breinigsville, Pa. died unexpectably on August 31st, in the St. Lukes Hospital, Bethlehem, Pa. He was the widower of Evelyn J. ( Mickley) Hemerly who died in 2005. He was born in Lynn Township, a son of the late John and Mary ( Fister) Hemerly. He was employed as a welder for the former Bethlehem Steel Corp., from 1967 to retiring in 1991. He served his country faithfully and honorably with the U.S. Army, during the Korean War. He was of the protestant faith. Karl was a life member of the VFW Post 7293, Egypt, Pa, the American Legion Post 314 , Lehighton, Pa. and the Lynport Fire Co. Survivors includes a son Randy K. Hemerly of Moorestown, Pa ; a stepson, Mark A. Meckes and his wife Edie, of Wescosville; a sister Eva J. Kunkel of Kempton and step grandchildren Nicole and Tiffany Meckes and his long time companion Irene P. Schock of Lehighton, Pa.and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Anna Blose and brothers Earl, John and Terry Hemerly. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Nester Funeral Home- 8405 Kings Highway, New Tripoli, Pa. 18066 with Rev. Greg Wollenhaupt officiating. Calling hours Wed. 6-8PM and Thursday 10-11AM . Interment in Jerusalem Red Church Cemetery, Kempton, Pa.
