Karen A. "Cookie" (Stoudt) Mengel

Karen A. “Cookie” (Stoudt) Mengel, 74, of Germansville, PA passed away on December 17, 2021 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest, Allentown, PA.  She was the wife of Richard E. Mengel, with whom she would have celebrated 52 years of marriage on December 20, 2021. Born in Allentown, PA, she was a daughter of the late Russell and Roberta (Holveck) Stoudt. Karen was a 1965 graduate of Northwestern High School where she was a varsity cheer leader and girls basketball player . She was employed as a supervisor for Dun and Bradstreet, Inc. in Bethlehem, and later worked for the former Hamm’s Drive Inn in New Tripoli, PA. Karen was a member of the Lutheran Congregation of Heidelberg Union Church in Slatington, PA. She was a very loving and supportive Mother and Nanny and was her grandchildren's biggest fan. In addition to her loving husband, survivors include her son, Jason T. (Tina) Mengel; daughter, Jennifer L. (Brian) Hebelka, both of Germansville, PA; grandchildren, Brady and Brandon Mengel, and Haley and Derek Hebelka; sister, Vicki Trexler of New Tripoli; brothers, Terry Stoudt of Orefield, Timm (Nancy) Stoudt of Allentown, and Scott Stoudt of Columbia, SC. She was predeceased by a brother, Michael Stoudt. Karen’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 10:30 AM in the Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway New Tripoli, PA 18066, with visitation beginning at 9:30AM. Interment in Heidelberg Union Cemetery, Slatington, PA. Pastor Rashion Santiago will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Karen’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital c/o the funeral home. Masks requested to be worn.
