Joyce C. (Kunkel) Moyer

Joyce C. (Kunkel) Moyer, 83, of Hamburg, PA passed away on March 26, 2022 in the University of PA Hospital in Philadelphia. She was the loving wife of Donald C. “Butch” Moyer for over 63 years. Born in Stony Run, PA, she was the daughter of Homer and Lovie (Bond) Kunkel. Joyce was a graduate of Kutztown High School. She was a school van driver for the Hamburg School District for 35 years. Also, during this time, she was the co-owner of the former Moyer’s Hardware store in Hamburg, and later co-owned and operated the former K & M Burger Ranch in Shartlesville, PA. Joyce was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hamburg. She was also the past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Conrad Weiser and Hamburg. She enjoyed playing the piano and teaching others how to play. In addition to her husband, survivors include her sons, Gregg A. (Anne Marie) Moyer of Haymarket, VA and Kurt C. (Heather) Moyer of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Tiffany Moceri, Nathan and Alex Moyer, Tyler Skelton, Savannah Walker, and Kaleb Moyer; five great-grandchildren. Joyce was predeceased by her brothers, Stewart and Robert Kunkel. Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 11:30 AM in St. John’s Lutheran Church, 99 Church St. Hamburg, PA 19526, with a calling hour to begin at 10:30AM. Pastor Mark Jansen will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be sent to her church at the address above.
