John A. Achenbach

John A. Achenbach, 88, of New Tripoli, PA passed away on November 23, 2021 at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest, Allentown, PA. He was the widower of Mary C. Achenbach, who passed away in 2019. Born in Pottsville, PA, he was a son of the late Orlo E. and Tillie (Straub) Achenbach. John served his country in the United States Navy. He was a 1951 graduate of Pottsville High School and a 1953 graduate of Salvation Army Training College in Bronx, NY. He later went on to earn his BA from Asbury University. John was a teacher for the Northwestern Lehigh High School until retiring in 1993. He was a longtime member of The Salvation Army in Pottsville, PA. Survivors include his two daughters, Jean E. Achenbach and Erika M.E. Robinson, both at home; grandsons, Colby and Chad Witt; great-grandchildren, Kyra, Kaleb, and Corinna Witt; sister, Diane (John) Kasko of Drexel Hill, PA. He was predeceased by siblings, Orlo Achenbach and Martha Sterner. Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Grace Community Church Cemetery, New Tripoli, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to Pottsville Salvation Army, sent to the Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway New Tripoli, PA 18066.
