James L Schwartz, Sr., 77, of Kutztown, Pa . died January 13, 2014 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital- Cedar Crest, Allentown, Pa. He was the husband of Delores M. (Kratzer) Schwartz. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on November 6, 2013. He was born in Northampton, a son of the late Robert and Viola ( Getz) Schwartz. He was employed as an Iron worker, working out of the Iron Workers Local Union # 420 and # 36 , Reading, Pa. for 43 years, retiring in 1992. James served his country honorably, with the U.S. Navy, during the Korean War. In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Deborah S. wife of Lynn Dietrich, Lenhartsville, Jane E. wife of Lynn Angstadt, Blandon; three brothers, Robert Schwartz, Walnutport, William of Orefield and Franklin of Northampton; also 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, James L Schwartz , Jr. and daughters, Tami S. Dougherty and Kelly M. Hullihen. His Memorial service will be held on Sunday, January19, 2014 at 2:00 PM, in the Nester Funeral Home- 8405 Kings Highway ( Rt. 143), New Tripoli, Pa.18066, with a visitation period beginning at 1:00 PM. Rev. Melissa Lemons officiating. Private interment in Indiantown Gap Nat. Cemetery, at a later date.
