Howard L. Hamm, 86, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter on February 15, 2021. He was married 30 years to his late wife, Arlene B. Hamm, who passed away in September of 2020. Born in Lynnport, PA., he was the son of the late Milton W. and Pearl F. (Hemerly) Hamm. He and his twin sister were raised by the late Charles and Nellie Frey. Howard was a 1952 graduate of Slatington High School and then served in the US Army. He retired in 1994 after working 42 years at the former Western Electric in Allentown, PA. Howard was an active lifetime member of Jacob’s Church in New Tripoli, where he served as former treasurer and councilman, sang on the choir, and helped at many other church events. He was an avid bowler at the Bocce Club and Hampton Lanes. Howard will be lovingly remembered for the pride he took in his appearance making sure to be dressed to perfection and to never have a hair out of place. Survivors include his twin sister, Pearl F. Follweiler of Kempton, PA.; daughter, Melissa (Karl) Rentzheimer of Laurys Station, PA.; son, Mark (Kris) Hamm of Slatington, PA; stepdaughter, Deanna Walker and her partner Millie Jones, of San Diego, CA.; stepsons, Bill (Pam) Barnes of Milpita, CA. and Dave (Holly) Barnes of Bartos, PA.; grandchildren, Kaiti, Brett, Dustin, and Morgan; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers Nevin, Morris, and Paul Hamm. Howard’s funeral service will be held on Sunday February 21, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway New Tripoli, PA. 18066, with a calling period to begin at 1:00 PM. Rev. Scott L. Shay will officiate. COVID-19 restrictions will be followed. Private entombment in Grandview Cemetery, Allentown, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Howard’s name may be made to Jacob’s Church Memorial Fund and/or Lehigh Valley Hospice c/o the funeral home.
