Harvey A. Hines, Jr., 89, of Walnutport, PA. passed away in the Scenic View Personal Care facility in Palmerton, PA. on October 23, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ada E. (Handwerk) Hines in August of 2020. He was born in Allentown, a son of the late Harvey A. and Alma (Altemos) Hines, Sr. He was a self- employed antique dealer until his retirement in 2018. Hank was a well-known professional fiddle player, as well as a guitarist and vocalist performing with the former Bluegrass Countrymen Band for many years. He was a decorated veteran of the Korean war serving in the U.S. Army, having received two Purple Heart Medals.
He is survived by a daughter Diane wife of Robert A. Schmidt, of Slatington, with whom he last resided; a sister Sandra Stephens, Bethlehem; a brother Rev. William A. (Susan) Hines of Williamsport; two grandchildren Eric (Jennifer) Deibert and Vicki (companion Alan Leone) Ayers and five great-grandchildren.
There will be a private graveside funeral service with Military Honors at the Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Allentown with Rev. William A. Hines officiating.
