Harry J. Hoppes, 73, of Lenhartsville, PA. passed away in the Lehigh Valley Hospice Inpatient Unit in Allentown, PA. on Saturday, September 18, 2021. He was the widower of the late Carolyn N. (Bauscher) Hoppes, who passed away in 1990. Harry was born in Berks County, a son of the late Morris L. and Amanda L. (Bower) Hoppes. In his youth, he was a member of the Berks County 4-H, Northern Berks Dairy Club, and Hamburg FFA, where he received a Chapter Greenhand Award, Berks County Chapter Award, and a PA Keystone Award. He showed Hogs and Holstein Dairy Cattle at all the local fairs and the PA Farm Show. He was a 50-year member of Virginville Grange, and a member of Berks County and Pennsylvania Farmers Association. Harry was a farmer most of his life. He was employed by Secret Valley Farms, Maidencreek Farm Supply, and was the owner and operator of Hoppes Farm Repair from 1977 until retirement. He was the road master and supervisor for Greenwich Township for 12 years. Harry was also a member of the Kempton Fire Company, where he served as a Fire Fighter, Assistance Chief, Fire Marshal, Trustee, and Fire Police over a period of 35 years. He served on the council for Frieden’s Lutheran Church in Stony Run, and the New Bethel-Frieden’s joint churches. Harry enjoyed farming, working with the farm animals, and raising beef cattle on his own farm. He loved to work on farm tractors. He also enjoyed attending antique car and tractor shows, even judging antique farm tractors and equipment. Survivors include his two daughters, Patricia C. and husband David M. Arndt, grandson, Dylan M. Arndt of Kempton, PA. and Jessica A. Freeman and husband Russell D. Quinn of New Tripoli, PA.; sister, Elsie (Alvin) Kauffman of Stevens, PA.; brothers, Leroy M. Hoppes of Mohrsville, PA., Harold G. (Elaine) Hoppes of Germansville, PA., and Roy P. (Geraldine) Hoppes of Centerport, PA.; sister-in-law, Grace Hoppes of Shoemakersville, PA.; and five granddogs. In addition to his wife, Carolyn, Harry was predeceased by his brother, Richard W. Hoppes and his son-in-law, John Freeman, III. Harry’s funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 10:30 AM in Frieden’s Lutheran Church, 9727 Red Road Kempton, PA. 19529. Interment in adjoining cemetery. Viewing Hours will be held Friday evening from 6:00-7:30pm, and on Saturday from 9:30-10:30 AM, both at Frieden’s Lutheran Church. Rev. Charles Scharadin will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Association, or the Kempton Fire Company, c/o Robert S.
