Gary S. Young

Gary S. Young, 69, of New Tripoli, PA passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 26, 2022, with his loving wife by his side. He was the husband of Janet (Mertz) Young, with whom he celebrated 36 years of marriage in December of 2021. Born in Fort Leonard Wood, MO, he was a son of Linford “Buddy” and Jean “Ginger” (Kremus) Young. Gary was a graduate of Whitehall HS Class of 1971.  He was a veteran, having served in the US Army stationed in Germany from 1972 to 1974.  He worked for East Penn Manufacturing in Topton, PA and also as an employee/owner of Blind Ambitions, in charge of installing blinds, shades and awnings for over 35 years. Prior to that, he was employed for 16 years at Mack Trucks in Allentown. In addition to his wife, survivors include his sister, Gail M. Bundra of Walnutport; brother, Glen T. Young (Eileen Butler) of Northampton; sister-in-law, Sandra L. Mertz (Brian Sharrow) of Arloington, VA; nieces, Carrie L. Bundra of Walnutport, and Jenna L. (David) Martin of Northampton; nephews, Brian S. (Jenny) Young of Easton, and Jared J. Bundra of Walnutport; four great-nieces; 2 great-nephews. Gary was predeceased by his aunt, Joni Kremus.

Gary had a passion to live in the woods and knew the importance of giving back to the land.  He revitalized the old barn into a welcoming home for family & friends to gather.  Many traditions were made, including First Day of Fishing parties, tales & tunes around the fire, and Jeep rides up the mountain, all steps to becoming a “member of the land clan.” Gary loved the wonders of travel, enjoying time spent cruising the bays of Delaware and Maryland on the family pontoon, and journeying off to far flung places, such as Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua, Belize, Colombia, and Alaska.

His memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway, New Tripoli, PA, with a visitation period to begin at 9:30 AM. Pastor Cindy White will officiate.
