Florence M. “Flossie” (Lenhart) Metzger, 95, of New Tripoli, PA, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Cornerstone Living in New Tripoli. She was the widow of Franklin G. “Sonny” Metzger, Sr., who died in 2004. Born in Kempton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Hattie V.C. (Billig) Lenhart.
Flossie was a 1947 graduate of Slatington High School. She worked for many years as a presser at the former Windsor Knitting Mill in Hamburg and at Kempton Sportswear until her retirement. Flossie was a devoted member of the UCC congregation of Jerusalem Red Church in Kempton. She faithfully served as Sunday School superintendent for 40 years, was a former president of the consistory, and sang in the church choir. She was also an active member of the Kempton Fire Company, New Tripoli Fire Company, and a lifetime member of the Germansville Fire Company. A devoted fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, Flossie enjoyed following her team throughout the years.
Flossie is survived by her sons, Franklin G. Metzger, Jr., and his companion, Lori Weaver, and Farrell Timothy Charles "Tim" Metzger and his wife, Regina, all of New Tripoli; grandchildren, Jamie (Lisa), Austin (Ashley), Farrah (Matt), Devin (Victoria), Shannah, and Dylan; great-grandchildren, Autumn, Naomi, Archer, and Brooks; sister, Anna Bieber of Kuhnsville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by an infant child and her siblings, Mary Waidelich and George, James, and Charles Lenhart.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway, New Tripoli. A calling period will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Walter Frisch will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Flossie’s memory to Jerusalem Red Church, c/o the funeral home address above.
