Elaine R. (Herring) Henry

Elaine R. (Herring) Henry, 84, of Kempton, PA passed away on March 22, 2023 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest, Allentown, PA. She was the wife of Willis R. Henry, with whom she celebrated 62 years of marriage in December of 2022. Born in Lenhartsville, PA, she was a daughter of the late Harold A. and Arline E. (Berk) Herring. Elaine was a 1956 graduate of Kutztown Area High School and a 1958 graduate of McCann’s School of Business in Reading, PA. She was employed at Western Electric in Allentown, PA for several years and then later worked in the offices of the former Benham Knitwear, Wright’s Knitwear, and Medalist Apparel until retiring in 1992.  Elaine was a member and former choir member of New Bethel Church in Kempton, PA. In addition to her loving husband, Willis, survivors include her daughters, Sharon L. Griffiths of Reading, PA, and Diane L. (Scott) Vanisko of Manorville, NY; grandsons, Peter, Zachary, and Kieran Griffiths; sister, Marie (Rev. Joseph) Ely of Phoenix, AZ; brother, Harold J. (Lee) Herring of Las Cruces NM and Breckenridge, CO. She was predeceased by her twin brother, Charles R. Herring and her sister, Eleanore M. Herring. Elaine’s funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Nester Funeral Home, Inc., 8405 Kings Highway New Tripoli, PA, with a calling hour to begin at 10:00 AM. Interment in New Bethel Union Cemetery, Kempton. Rev. Joseph Ely will officiate. Memorial contributions in Elaine’s name may be sent to New Bethel Church, 135 New Bethel Church Road Kempton, PA.
