Daniel R. "Danny" Martel

Daniel R. “Danny” Martel, 66, of Shoemakersville, PA, passed away unexpectedly on May 25, 2023 in Richmond Township, Berks County, PA. He was the husband of Jean M. (Ansbro) Martel, having celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary in November of 2022. Born in Somerville, NJ, he was the son of the late Henry L.J. Martel and Ruth A. (Stump) Reber.

Danny was a 1975 graduate of Hamburg Area High School and later enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After serving his country for several years, he went on to find employment as a bench technician, having last worked for East Penn Manufacturing in Fleetwood, PA, since 2011.  Danny attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hamburg, PA. He was a member of the Perry Township Game Association in Hamburg.

In addition to his loving wife, Jean, survivors include his daughters, Danielle C. Martel of NY, Dana A. Martel of FL, and Amber C. (Kevin) Simpson of Hamburg; Amber’s mom, Annie Martel of Hamburg; eight grandchildren; sisters, Colinda M. (Alan) Hileman of Hamburg, and Lucinda J. Palubinski of Schuylkill Haven, PA; several nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law. Danny was predeceased by a niece, Ashley Hileman.

His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Nester Funeral Home, Inc., 8405 Kings Highway New Tripoli, PA, with a calling hour to begin at 10:00 AM. Private interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. Rev. Tad Schlegel will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to help off-set Danny’s final expenses may be made to the Nester Funeral Home, Inc., sent to the address above.
