Charles E. Lenhart, Jr., 89, of Kempton, PA, went home to meet his Lord and Savior on March 22, 2023. His loving wife of over 58 years, Bernice A. (Henry) Lenhart, was by his side. Born in Kempton, PA, he was a son of the late Charles E. Lenhart, Sr. and the late Hattie (Billig) Lenhart. He was a 1951 graduate of Kutztown Area High School. Charles was a US Army Veteran having served his country from 1956-1958. Charles spent many years farming on his parents’ family farm in Kempton. He went on to drive truck for the former Maislin Trucking Co. in Allentown, and later drove for the Pitt-Ohio Trucking Co. in Coopersburg, PA, until retirement.
In addition to his wife, Bernice, survivors include his daughters, Deborah Scott of OK, Michele J. (Rick Fehlinger) Hazzard of Catasauqua, and Charlene Silva of New Tripoli; sons, Charles Lenhart III and wife, Cindy, of Kutztown, Michael (Judy) Lenhart of New Tripoli, Shane (Stacey) Lenhart at home, Scott (Aime) Lenhart of Pottstown, and Ryan (Becky) Lenhart of Kutztown; eighteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Anna (Herbert) Bieber of Kuhnsville, and Florence Metzger of New Tripoli. He was predeceased by a son, David Lenhart, and siblings, George Lenhart and Mary Waidelich.
His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Nester Funeral Home, Inc., 8405 Kings Highway New Tripoli, PA, with a calling hour to begin at 10:00 AM. Interment, with military honors, in Jerusalem Red Church Cemetery in Kempton. Pastor Mark Caston will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the funeral home to help off-set Charles’ final expenses.
