Catherine L. “Cass” Kistler, 90, of Kempton, passed away on Tuesday evening, March 17, 2015 in the Laurel Living Center, Hamburg, Pa. She was preceeded in death by her huband N. David “Dave” Kistler in 1997. She was born in Albany Township, a daughter of the late Floyd W. and Dorothy C. ( Klingaman) Bond. She and her husband were self employed farmers in the Lehigh County area since their marriage in 1944. Over the years the operation grew, to become the largest vegetable producer for the Campbell Soup Co., Camden, NJ. They added farming land in Berks, Schuylkill and Carbon County. In 1982 they received the Pa. State Tomato Grand Championship for class B machine harvesting. Since the mid 1980’s they switched to mainly growing grain and after her husband’s death, she finally retired in 2005. Catherine loved her family, farming and playing bingo. Survivors includes a granddaughter –in-law, Deanna L. DeLong wife of Mark W. Yeich of Kempton; a sister, Anna M. Blatt, of Bernville ; 2 great-grandchildren Christine and Colin Delong, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Faye D. Delong, a grandson David K. Delong and a sister Mildred F. Nester. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday March 24, 2015 at 1:30 PM in the Nester Funeral Home- 8405 Kings Highway, New Tripoli, Pa.18066, with a calling hour beginning at 12:30 PM. Robert J. Billig, Jr. will officiate. Interment will take place in Jerusalem ( Red) Church Cemetery, Kempton, Pa.
