Brenda J. (Snyder) Burkhart

Brenda J. Burkhart, 84, of Kutztown, PA, formerly of Lenhartsville, PA, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026, at Willow Brook Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Kutztown. She was the loving wife of the late David M. Burkhart, who passed away in 1997.

Born in Northampton, PA, Brenda was the daughter of the late Daniel N. and Grace I. (Hunsicker) Snyder. She was a 1960 graduate of Northwestern Lehigh High School and later earned her LPN Certificate from Reading Area Community College.

Brenda worked as an LPN at the Hearthstone at Maidencreek Assisted Living Community in Reading, PA. She also served as a substitute school nurse for the Northwestern Lehigh School District and as a floating school nurse for the Kutztown School District. She was a member of Bridge Church in Hamburg, PA, as well as the Praetorius German Association in Germansville, PA. In 1974, Brenda made history as the first woman union laborer for Alvin J. Butz Construction Co.

Brenda is survived by her son, Dean E. Hartman of Orefield, PA; daughters, Betty J. (David R.) Geisler and Tina M. Hartman, both of Kempton, PA; five grandchildren, Derrick, Rody, Katie, Megan, and Jillian; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Brian L. (Bonnie) Snyder and Gary D. Snyder, both of New Tripoli, PA; sister, Patricia (Daniel) Christ of Kempton; brother-in-law, Peter Reichert of Egypt, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, David, she was predeceased by her infant daughter, Lisa G. Hartman; sister, Rita K. Snyder; nephew, Brett Snyder; and sister-in-law, Susie Snyder.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway, New Tripoli. A calling hour will begin at 10:00 AM. Rev. Karen A. Yonney will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dementia Society of America and mailed to P.O. Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901.
