Ada E. (Handwerk) Hines

Ada E. (Handwerk) Hines, 85, of Walnutport, PA. passed away at the home of her daughter on August 27, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Harvey A. “Hank” Hines, having celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in July of 2020. Born in Treichlers, PA., she was the daughter of the late Victor and Ruth (Laub) Handwerk. Ada was a member of the Good Shepherd U.C.C. Church in Slatington, PA. She was a 1952 graduate of Northampton High School and was later employed as a manager for the former Scotties Fashions in Palmerton, Little Gap, and Treichlers locations for many years until retiring. In addition to her loving husband, survivors include her daughter, Diane wife of Robert A. Schmidt of Slatington, PA., with whom she last resided; brother, Harvey (Althea) Handwerk of Walnutport, PA.; sister, Arlene George of Walnutport, PA.; two grandchildren, Eric (Jennifer) Deibert and Vicki (Alan Leone) Ayers; five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by siblings Louis, Victor Jr., and Arthur Handwerk, Verna Smith, and Mildred Strohl-Voortman. There will be a private graveside funeral service at Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Allentown, PA. Rev. William A. Hines will officiate.
