Robert R. Goodhart, 72, of New Tripoli, formerly of W. VA, passed away Wednesday January 24, 2018 at his residence. He was the son of the late Russell J. and Mildred J. (McFarland) Goodhart. He was employed as a metallurgical engineer at National Steel and Weirton Steel in West Virginia and later at ATAS International in Fogelsville, PA where he retired in 2015. Robert served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1969 during the Vietnam War, having served in Korea. He was an avid naturalist, loving the beauty and wonder of nature, most recently at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary. He is survived by two daughters; Tracey L. wife of Mark Lemasters of Moundsville, WV. and Amy S. Goodhart of Stroudsburg, PA. Siblings; Richard J. Goodhart of Friday Harbor, WA and Wenda K. Singer of Richmond, VA., and nine beloved grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made to Hawk Mountain Sanctuary Association, 1700 Hawk Mountain Rd. Kempton, PA 19529 or to your favorite charity. Arrangements entrusted to the Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, New Tripoli, PA. There will be no formal services. It is Robert’s final wish that we all go to a peaceful place and think kind thoughts.
