Richard A. (Dick) Bowman

Richard A. (Dick) Bowman, 76, of Pen Argyl, PA passed away tragically in a vehicular accident at the intersection of  Rt. 248 and 873 in Lehigh Township, PA on the morning of November 2, 2018.  He was the husband of Susan A. (Jarrett) Bowman, with whom he celebrated 46 years of marriage in July 2018. Dick was born in Sandusky, OH, a son to the late Arlington and Patricia (O’Reilly) Bowman.  He was a 1960 graduate of Parkland High School, and later earned a BA from East Stroudsburg State College. Dick was a beloved mathematics teacher and coach for many years.  He was the head football coach at Saucon Valley High School from 2002-2006, leading them to their first District II championship in 2004.  Dick also taught and coached at Northwestern Lehigh School District and coached for Pen Argyl and Palisades districts.  He and his wife were one of the incorporators of Forgotten Felines and Fidos, Inc., originally of Allentown, currently of Germansville, PA. He was the president of Forgotten Felines for 15 years.  Dick worked endlessly to care for the countless animals that crossed his path. In addition to his wife, survivors include his brother, John (Linda) Bowman of Tarpon Springs, FL; two nephews; two nieces; and many, many friends. He was predeceased by his brother Thomas Bowman.  Dick’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 1:30 PM in the Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway New Tripoli, PA 18066, with a calling hour to begin at 12PM.  Rev. Gary Whittington will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dick’s name can be sent directly to Forgotten Felines and Fidos, Inc., P.O. Box 62 Germansville, PA 18053.
