Janet M. (Fickett) Plasha, 48, of Andreas, PA. passed away in the Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia, PA. on April 30, 2019. She was the wife of Bruce Plasha, with whom she recently celebrated 19 years of marriage this past April. Janet was born in Abington, PA., a daughter of the late Lawrence W. and Patricia (Donahue) Fickett, Sr., Milbridge, ME. She was a 1989 graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School, Wyncote, PA. Janet was a member of St. John’s 23rd R.C. Church, Tamaqua, PA. She was also a member of Andreas Sporting Club, Andreas Fire Co., and she was a lifetime member of Ontelaunee Rod and Gun Club. She most recently worked as a cashier for the Nutrition Group at the Tamaqua Middle School. Janet was an avid hunter, loved the outdoors, enjoyed playing cards and playing volleyball, and watching her girls play basketball. Janet donated a portion of her body to science for Never Smokers Lung Cancer Research. In addition to her loving husband and mother, survivors include: two daughters, Lorelei and Samantha Plasha, at home; two brothers, Lawrence W. Fickett, Jr. and John Fickett both of Shoemakersville, PA.; three sisters, Fay, wife of Steve Kiefer of Quakertown, PA., Anna, wife of Bruce Felker of Horsham, PA, Patricia Fickett of Tuscarora, PA.; Uncle and Aunt John and Linda Donahue of MN; several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 6, 2019 at 11:00 AM in St. John’s 23rd R.C. Church, 307 Pine Street Tamaqua, PA., with calling hours on Sunday, May 5, 2019, at the Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway New Tripoli, PA 18066, from 1-3:00 PM. Father John Frink will be the celebrant. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be sent to the Funeral Home for Janet’s daughters’ future education, made out to Bruce Plasha and/or “gifts in memory of Janet Plasha” sent directly to Fox Chase Cancer Center, 333 Cottman Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19111.
