John D. Bailey

John D. Bailey, 82, of Allentown, PA, formerly of New Tripoli, PA, passed away at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Allentown on Friday, January 19, 2024. He was a son of the late Adam and Naomi (Long) Bailey. John was a 1959 graduate of Northwestern High School in New Tripoli. He later went on to work for Met-Ed in Reading, PA, until retiring in 1985.

John was of the U.C.C. Faith. He was a member and past master and secretary of Slatington Lodge # 440 F & A.M. John was also a member of the Valley of Allentown-Lehigh Consistory, Slatington Royal Arch Chapter # 292, and Allen Council # 23 R & S.M.M. in Allentown. He was a member of the Rawd Grundsow Lodge #11 at the Fireline in Kresgeville, PA, and was a former member of Lynn Township Planning Commission, having just retired from there in December.

Survivors include his sister, Marian E. Bailey of Slatington, PA, and several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by siblings Franklin and Richard Bailey, Lucille Hamm, Janet German, Christine Kamp, and Anna Handwerk.

There will be a private funeral service held at the convenience of the family in the Nester Funeral Home, New Tripoli. Private interment in Jacob’s Union Cemetery. Rev. James LeVan will officiate.
