Russel Lee Daniels

Russel Lee Daniels, 79, of Fleetwood, passed away on June 7, 2015 in Sinking Spring, where he last resided.  He was predeceased by his loving wife, of nearly 55 years, Paula Daniels in 2014.  He was born in Steinsville, Lynn Twsp., a son of the late Edward and Ruth (Miller) Daniels.  He was a member of St. Paul’s U.C.C. Church, Fleetwood, Pa.  He was also a 1953 graduate of Slatington High School.  Russell was a United States Air Force Veteran during the Korean War.  He served with the 512th  Fighter Interceptor Squadron in England, Libya, Turkey, Greece, Syria, France and Germany.  He served four years in active duty and four years standby duty.  After coming Stateside, he began working in Heating and Air Conditioning with several firms, last working for Browns Heating and Air Conditioning, until retiring in 2000.  Russel was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He was always willing to lend a hand, offer a piece of advice, and share a story about growing up on the farm, learning in the one room schoolhouse, or his adventures around the world in the United States Air Force.  He loved spending time with his family and friends, camping in the Poconos, and enjoying a big bowl of ice cream or any dessert.  Russel is survived by his four daughters, Karen, wife of Mark Wilson of Laureldale, Alice Shomgard and Susan, wife of Dwight Bigg, both of Blandon and Ellen, wife of John Seidt, Sinking Spring , with whom he last resided; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his brother, Frank E. Daniels, husband of Carolyn F. Daniels of Elizabethtown, Pa.  His humbleness, unparalled humor, grand stories and wisdom will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.  He will forever live in our hearts.  His Funeral will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday June 12, 2015 in St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 5 West Arch Street, Fleetwood, Pa 19522, with a calling hour beginning at 10:00 AM. Pastor John W. Folk will officiate.  Interment with military honors will take place in Jacobs Union Cemetery, New Tripoli, Pa. In lieu of flower contributions in his memory are requested to St. Paul’s U.C.C. Memorial fund sent to the above church address and /or to Berks Encore, 40 N. Nineth Street, Reading, Pa. 19601.
