Janet and Family,
May your precious memories comfort you at this difficult time. I was very appreciative of how Richard tried to teach our Pennsylvania Dutch language to the Kutztown Area High School students, that it might continue in our youth. Thank you, Mr. Bond.

Dear Janet, Carrie, and Aaron and families,

Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of your loved one. I have fond memories of Herr Bond. As a former Kemptonite, I can still picture him singing in the choir at our church; participating in our Kempton Centennial activities, and perhaps the most memorable memory was being in Herr Bond's German classes during my years in Junior High School. Several years ago, my husband and I traveled overseas to visit the villages from which my ancestors came. I spoke to many of the villagers in German and they could understand me perfectly. They asked me where I learned to speak German so fluently. I attribute that to Herr Bond and his excellence as a teacher.

Carrie and Aaron, losing a father is never easy. When my father died many years ago, someone once reminded me that we never lose the ones we love,...for in our hearts their memory lingers on. This has proved so true over the years. May you and your mother and other family members find comfort in the "special times" that you shared with Herr Bond. Although I am unable to attend Herr Bond's service, please know that I will be there in spirit. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Mr Bond was my 8th grade German teacher at Kutztown Jr high. I am now 37 years old and can still hear his kind and patient voice. I was interested in alternative music from a young age and specifically remember him taking an entire class to talk to us about the suicide of Kurt Cobain. He wanted to understand what mattered to us and wanted to relate. I've had countless teachers over the years but Mr Bond still stands out. Rest easy.

Mr. Bond was my English teacher, and my mother's German teacher before that. I loved English and was fond of his class, his accent was great too. I made a ceramic dragon in art class and i remember he asked me if he could keep it and display it in the classroom. Im sure it isnt around anymore but it's a great memory. My condolences, there are many who will remember him.

Herr Bond was a favorite teacher, perhaps because he was a Kemptonian like many in my class, including Jonathan. Unlike others, he taught not just to enjoy the German language but the German culture. Indeed, because of him, I'm sure, I made it a point to make my first overseas trip was to Germany. It was everything he'd promised.

Mögest du in einem Himmel voller Windbeutel und Bier ruhen, Herr Bond!
