Lucille S. (Bailey) Hamm

March 4, 1938 ~ February 2, 2016 (age 77) 77 Years Old


Lucille S. Hamm, 77, of Kempton, Pa. passed away in the presence of her family on Tuesday evening, February 2, 2016.  She was the wife of James D. Hamm having celebrated their 54th wedding aniversary in July of 2015.  She was born in Lynn Township, a daughter of the late Adam and Naomi (Long) Bailey. Lucille was a 1956 Graduate of Slatington High School. Lucille was employed as a kitchen worker for the former Albany Township Elementary School, Kempton, for over 30 years retiring in 2002.  She was a life long member of New Bethel Church, Kempton, where she served as a former church custodian, former sunday school pianist and a member of the church choir.  She was a member of the Lynnport and Kempton Fire Companies and the Albany Township Historical Society.  Survivors besides her husband includes two sons, Brent James (Carol) Hamm of Kingston, NY and Michael Adam Hamm, at home; two sisters, Janet German and Marion Bailey, both of Slatedale, Pa.and a brother John Bailey of New Tripoli.  She was predeceased by siblings, Christine Kamp, Anna Handwerk, Richard Bailey and Franklin Bailey. In accordance with Lucilles wishes, there will be no formal services.  Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in the New Bethel Union Cemetery, Kempton. In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory, are requested to the New Bethel Church Memorial Fund ( for Choir Gowns) sent to New Bethel Church, 135 New Bethel Church Road, Kempton, Pa. 19529.
