Kaci MacKenzie Kunkel, 18 of Kempton, passed away in a single- vehicle crash in Lynn Township, on Saturday morning, March 18, 2017. She was born in Allentown, a daughter of Jonathan E. (Sheila) Kunkel of Emmaus and Shawna L. (Cohick) Kunkel of Kempton, with whom she resided. She was a senior at Kutztown Area High School, attending also the Berks Career and Technology Center, Rec-N-Power program in Leesport, Pa. She also worked part time as a hostess at Katies Family Restaurant, New Tripoli, and as a farm hand at the Donamyc Dairy Farm in Kempton. In addition to her parents and step mother, she is survived by a sister, Taylor J. Kunkel, Bernville; a step-brother Louis C. Roche, Emmaus; maternal grandparents Larry and Linda (Merkel) Cohick of Kempton; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Earlin E. Kunkel and Sylvia (Walker) Koenig. Quoting Katie Macalush, one of her employers,"She was a beautiful young lady, intelligent, full of life and always had a smile". Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the Ebenezer U.C.C. Church, 7293 Decatur St. New Tripoli, Pa. 18066, with calling hours beginning at 11:00 AM. Rev. Kevin E. Fruchtl will officiate. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory are requested to the Kempton Fire Co. 2461 Rt.# 143, Kempton, Pa. 19529 and/or to the Community Fire Co. 7242 Decatur St., New Tripoli, Pa.18066.
