Jean F. (Miller) Dietrich

Jean F. Dietrich, 83, passed away on Wednesday August 9, 2017 in her home, surrounded by family members.  She was married to Wayne W. Dietrich, who passed away in December 2014. They had celebrated 60 years of marriage.Jean was born in Hamburg, PA, and was the daughter of the late Albert J. and Fannie F. (Reppert) Miller. She was a 1952 graduate of Perry High School, Shoemakersville, and had obtained a beautician’s license, which she held for many years. She was exposed to dairy farm life in her early married years and later, in addition to raising her family, was employed at various businesses, lastly at Max’s Thriftway Supermarket in Kutztown. Her hobbies included flower gardening, which she loved, cooking and baking traditional Pennsylvania Dutch foods, and shopping.  She loved her family and friends.  She was also a devoted member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Kutztown, where she participated in many church activities for over 40 years.

She is survived by sons Stephen W. Dietrich, Bernville, and Kerry L. Dietrich and his companion Gary G. Gilbert, East Greenville, sisters Arlene Leese, Reading, and Carolyn Balthaser, wife of J. Paul Balthaser, Bernville, brother Nevin Miller, husband of Arlene, Fleetwood, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by siblings Harold Miller, Miriam Evangelista, Pauline Klee and Donald Miller.  Her four-legged feline companion Lexie also survives.

Services will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 1343 Long Lane, Kutztown, Pa. 19530, with calling hours beginning at 9:00 AM. Vicar Jerome T. Heydt will officiate,  Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, sent to the above church address.
