Herman V. Kunkel, 94, formerly of Coplay, Pa. passed away on May 3, 2016 in the Gracedale Nursing Home, Nazareth, Pa. He was born in Albany Township a son of the
Late Warren and Beulah (Rausch) Kunkel. He was the former owner of Kunkel’s Citi Service gas station, garage and used car sales, Coplay, Pa. for 23 years. Later he worked at the Quality Service gas station in Whitehall for 10 years until retirement. He served his country faithfully and honorably during WWII with the US. Army. Herman was a life member of both the Fullerton Fire Co., and the Coplay American Club.
He is survived by two daughters, Carol A. Kunkel and Linda L., wife of Paul Tacker, both of Coplay; two sons, Herman R. Kunkel and his wife Kathleen of Walnutport with whom he last resided and Harlan E. and his wife Sandra of Whitehall; a sister Miriam B. Reichel, Kutztown; 9 grandchildren, 12 great-granchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Clarence, Ellis, Clayton, George, Ivan and Howard Kunkel and Arlene Kistler.
His funeral service will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Robert S. Nester Funeral Home 8405 Kings Highway, New Tripoli, Pa. 18066, with a calling hour beginning at 10:00 AM. Rev. Scott L. Shay will officiate. Burial will be in Friedens Luth. Cemetery, Stony Run, Pa.
