Gladys J. (Burkhardt) Held

Gladys Jean Held, 85, of New Tripoli, died Sunday, April 1, 2018 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest. Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late William A. and Emma M. (Bealer) Burkhardt. She was the wife of Richard D. Held with whom she celebrated 66 years of marriage in May 2017. She was a member and former choir member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ, New Tripoli. Gladys was a former dog breeder and handler of Chihuahuas.  Gladys was a past seamstress employee for the former Anderson Little Company in Allentown, PA and she also worked as a seamstress out of her home for many years. In addition to her loving husband, survivors include five children, Donna J. wife of William Leahy of Charlotte, NC., Richard A. of New Ringgold, PA., David B. of Kempton, PA., Janice G. wife of Erskine C. Rogers, III, Esq. of North Palm Beach, FL. and Cory W. of New Tripoli, PA.; 1 sister, Pauline Gillette of Smyrna, FL. and 2 brothers, Charles W. (Ruth) Burkhardt of The Villages, FL. and Carl W. (Rosie) Burkhardt of Orefield, PA.; 6 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.  A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 7:30 PM in Ebenezer U.C.C. Church 7293 Decatur Street New Tripoli, PA 18066, with a visitation period beginning at 6:00PM.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to Ebenezer U.C.C.
