Gerard A. Hawkey, 65 , formerly of Bethlehem, Freemansburg, and Whitehall, passed away on Sunday evening , February 7, 2016 in the Manor Care Nursing Home, Bethlehem, Pa. He was born in Bethlehem, a son of the late Franklin and Dorothy (Picket) Hawkey, Sr. He was employed as a respiratory therapist for the Lehigh Valley Hospital , Allentown, for 15 years, retiring in 2000. Jerry was a 1968 graduate of Liberty High School. He served his country faithfully and honorably with the US Army as a medical corpsman during the Vietnam War. His survivors includes his daughter Meghan R. wife of Pastor Michael Smith of Whitehall, Pa.; two brothers, Franklin Hawkey, Jr., of Catasauqa, Pa., Barry Hawkey of Scranton, Pa. and two grandchildren, Gwendolyn and Linus Smith. He was predeceased by a sister Patricia Hicks. His services and Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
