Eleanor A. (Fister) Snyder

Eleanor A. Snyder, 89, of New Tripoli, Pa. passed away on Sunday Morning, August 27, 2017 in the Cedarbrook Nursing Home, Allentown, Pa.  She was the wife of  Lester C. Snyder, who died in 2007. She was born in New Tripoli, a daughter of the late Edwin and Margaret (Howerter) Fister. She was employed as a folder for the former Wrights Manufacturing Co., Hamburg, Pa for 28 years retiring in 1979. She was also a co-owner along with her husband of the Snyder Trucking Co., New Tripoli, until retirement.  She was a faithful member of the New Life Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Tripoli, where she served on the church helping hands committee and the mission team. Eleanor was and honorary member and EMT for the former Northwestern Ambulance Corps., where she also taught classes in first aid and and cardiopulmonary recuscitation. She was a member of the New Tripoli Fire Co., formerly in charge of the kitchen for over 60 years. She was also a member of the Lynnport Fire Co. She is survived by a daughter Judith A., wife of Kerry L. Freeby, Alburtis; a son Dennis L. (Donna L.) Snyder, and a sister Alma C. Koch, both of New Tripoli; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and her loving dog Tiny.  She was also predeceased by four brothers, Paul, George, Ralph and William Fister.  Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the New Life Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6804 Weiss Road, New Tripoli, Pa. 18066, with a visitation period beginning at 1:00 PM.  Pastor Cheryl F. Meinschein will officiate.  A private interment will take place in the Ebenezer Union Cemetery, New Tripoli.  Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the New Life Evangelical Luth. Church Memorial Fund and/or to the Northern Valley Ambulance Corps, sent to the Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway, New Tripoli, Pa.18066.
